This 1890s fitting is designed to hold the halyard blocks on a gaff rigged boat out far enough from the mast so that the mast hoops will not be pinched by the halyards. The fitting is designed for masts in the 6" to 7" diameter range.
base is 5" long 3 5/8" wide at widest point
tapers down to 1 1/2"
